Plan your vacation around the fascinating state of Pennsylvania and the traditional fun of an NMRA convention! The fabled land of chocolate will host the 2017 convention in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s capital city. Co-sponsored by the Susquehanna Division of the National Model Railroad Association, the convention features operating prototypes and all the beauty of Lancaster County.
Over 50 clinics on prototypes from coast to coast, plus the latest modeling techniques, will be offered by an award winning lineup of speakers. Noted authors and modelers on the program include Lee Rainey, Neil Besougloff, John Gallager, Bruce Young and more. Don’t miss the clinic on the restoration of the East Broad Top Railroad, followed up by a tour of the facility!
Choose from tours of a number of local prototype railroads and museums, including a special behind the scenes tour of the Strasburg Rail Road and a tour of ACF Industries, a premier manufacturer of new railroad rolling stock. We’ll also offer some fascinating home layout tours, including layouts that were featured in Railroad Model Craftsman and Model Railroad Hobbyist, as well as many others layouts, both during and before and after the convention.
A Free-Mo modular layout is planned to be a highlight of the convention, featuring short operating sessions during the day.
And, of course, every NMRA convention features a full range of contests, white elephant table and a live auction after the banquet.
